Collection Launch | Bésame Cosmetics

Liquid Hair in Victoria square plays host to many workshops and beauty launches I've learnt recently and having a sore spot for 1920's vintage I jumped at the chance to tag along to the Bésame Workshop. From beginning to end after the jump!

Honestly I tried to do a subtle soft shadow V flick on my eyes but it manifested into a fully fledged Cat line with soft edges. I'm a classic walking talking example of expectation verses reality. Precision liner is just not a skill I posses and seeing as I only wear makeup twice or more a week there's only so much time for practice. I also procrastinate like no ones business so I was late out the door and had to back comb and floof my hair on the bus (it went flat again anyway...-_-).

Arriving on time (for once) I was pretty stoked. Now I'm not particular to Macroons but these were to die for. Salted Caramel and Berry. Don't mind if I do. Wine and nibbles where also provided. I cant remember what these little fried balls were called but they were so delicious! I wanted to eat them all. I restrained myself however. We're in public Shae. No need to demonstrate how much food you can stuff in your mouth in 10 minutes. On to makeup!

The lovely Danielle and Susan! How accurate did Danielle get her 1920's look? I'm not brave enough to cut my hair that short!

Bubbles were poured and we clustered around in our seats, snap happy and avidly listening to product description. Live demonstration was performed showing off multi-purpose products such as the pressed powder foundation, violet powder & cream blush. All little babies I'm keen to own in the future! A cool little fact is their mascara contains only 7 ingredients including conditioning oils and food grade colorants. Very Very environmentally friendly. Although admittedly I wasn't overly interested. Call me stubborn but I know what I like in my mascara and don't plan to stray too soon.

We all got little demo make overs which I quite liked. I'd love to go to Mac or Inglot and have my face done but I'm almost certain that costs money even if you're buying products in store and I'm sans cash a lot of the time. Budget be thy middle name. I was already wearing foundation but I was treated to some pressed foundation which shockingly wasn't too dark for me. It gave me a fuller coverage as the foundation I was already wearing was quite sheer. I'm not a giant fan of blush as I love a gaunt wintery look but didn't mind the cream blush applied to my cheeks. It gave a wind bitten look. Which I actually like if I'm going to opt for a blush. Last was the lipstick which I'd been eyeing all night. I could be mixing up my sources but the lipstick Noir Red from the 1920's Deco Collection was featured in the recent movie The Great Gatsby. I beg you not to quote me though. Knowing my luck I misheard. Nonetheless I LOVE this lipstick. It's probably the darkest I'd ever go but it's beautiful. A dark deep blackberry red that I feel head over heels for and happily took home with me.

What I think I love most about the collection, not only is the price reasonable but the packing is just so beautiful. Very reminiscent of 1920-1930's makeup packaging. Gold plated (real gold!) with delicate flower etching. My only problem is my makeup collection is stored out of site so my little baby lippie is sitting on my bedside table soaking up all the glory it can get until it joins the rest of my lipsticks in my makeup suitcase. Bésame itself has 14 lipsticks available right now retailing at $26 au each. Red Noir being a part of the Deco Collection and Kenley Red purchasable with the Kenley Collens set. Even more astonishing is most of the colors in the line are exact reproductions of lipsticks used in famous movies or by famous actresses of their time. Red Hot Red being an exact color copy of a Marilyn Monroe lipsick.
I'd like to thank all the staff at Liquid hair for being wonderful hosts and Bésame Cosmetics for taking the time to allow us to play with makeup and teaching us all about 1920's vintage and pinup makeup! For your viewing pleasure see swatches below!

  2. What a fun night! Now that I'm looking at the swatches I'm thinking I should've bought Carmine and Portrait Pink but alas, budget would not allow. I've worn the Debutante Pink a few times now and LOVE it. Waiting to wear Cherry Red again on my next big night out!

    1. I loved Carmine too! I don't have an orange'sh lipstick and was eyeing it. I have heard orange shades make teeth look yellow and I haven't got pearly white teeth so I was hesitant. I liked Cherry Red too but honestly I prefer a darker shade of red. I need to get an every day red though :P xx
