Review | Models Prefer Contour Palette

Every Tom, Dick and Brand is coming out with their own version of 'The Contour Palette' and as a blogger it's hard to resist the purchase. Because we won't end up using all of them but we do it for comparative purposes. Everyone in OZ loves the Australis version but as someone who is as pale as a walking corpse a very warm toned palette for contouring purposes doesn't look too nice on paler lasses so it's a struggle to find cool and neutral tones to create natural highlight and shadows with.

Quick to follow suit after Australis released their version Priceline's home brand Models Prefer followed months later. As I own both I can give a pretty good comparatives between the two. Australis leans very VERY warm toned and the powder is quite dry; meaning it can apply muddy on some people, particularly those with texture issues. People really either love it or hate it and I've noticed it's usually tanner people who prefer the Australis version or people who swear by yellow setting powder under the eyes as the Australis version is very yellow.

Now how does the MP version compare? The powder is much softer and creamier and feels velvety to the touch as well as decent pigmentation. The colour 05 is A LOT cooler than the Australis version making it the better colour choice to create natural shadows and the Banana shade leans more soft and pastel. It could be my skin colour that makes me prefer this over the other but the formula is a lot nicer in my opinion as well. The packaging is also leagues better. Sturdier. Comes with a mirror and a colour guide on the back. It also comes with a tutorial pamphlet booklet in the box for those who are new to contouring and highlighting. All things the Australis version 'does not' have.

We all know the original inspiration. A product that blew up and quickly became a cult product. Now Australia has jumped on the bandwagon and Models Prefer. They both retail for similar prices, barring a 4c price difference currently from what I can see on the Priceline website.

Left to Right: 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06

So what do you think? I'll probably always recommend the MP version over the Australis one any day. The feel and finish is just unbeatable for a drugstore palette.

Models Prefer can be found exclusively in Priceline.
